<p>
| 13 |
The Debian Project is pleased to announce that in the next few months
| 14 |
Bug Squashing Parties (<q><a href="http://wiki.debian.org/BSP">BSP</a></q>s)
| 15 |
will take place in several countries.
| 16 |
The main focus of a Bug Squashing Party is to triage and fix bugs,
| 17 |
but it is also an opportunity for users less familiar with the BTS
| 18 |
to make other contributions to the Debian project, such as
| 19 |
translating package descriptions or improving the wiki.
| 20 |
Debian developers will be present to help contributors
| 21 |
understand how the project works and to help get fixes into
| 22 |
Debian.
| 23 |
</p>
| 24 |
<p>
| 25 |
During the coming weekend, 17-19 February, a BSP will be held at the
| 26 |
<a href="http://www.irill.org/">IRILL offices</a> in Paris, France.
| 27 |
This event will also be an opportunity for
| 28 |
potential contributors to meet Debian Developers or Maintainers. Numerous
| 29 |
regular contributors will attend this BSP and can help newcomers to
| 30 |
fix their first bugs.
| 31 |
For organizational reasons, registering on the
| 32 |
<a href="http://wiki.debian.org/BSP/2012/02/fr/Paris">Debian wiki</a> is
| 33 |
mandatory.
| 34 |
</p>
| 35 |
<p>
| 36 |
On 2-4 March, a BSP will be held in Cambridge, UK: people
| 37 |
interested in attending it are invited to add their names to its
| 38 |
<a href="http://wiki.debian.org/BSP/2012/03/gb/Cambridge">wiki page</a>.
| 39 |
<br />
| 40 |
During the same weekend, 2-4 March, a BSP will also be held at
| 41 |
<a href="http://www.credativ.de/">Credativ offices</a> in Mönchengladbach,
| 42 |
Germany: more information is available on the
| 43 |
<a href="http://wiki.debian.org/BSP2012/Moenchengladbach">Debian wiki</a>.
| 44 |
<br />
| 45 |
The following weekend another BSP will take place, on 10-11 March:
| 46 |
<a href="http://www.plug.org.au/">Perth Linux Users Group</a> is
| 47 |
organizing a Debian Bug Squashing Party at the
| 48 |
<a href="http://www.ucc.asn.au/">University Computer Club</a> in Perth,
| 49 |
Western Australia. For more information, visit its
| 50 |
<a href="http://wiki.debian.org/BSP/2012/03/au/Perth">wiki page</a>.
| 51 |
<br />
| 52 |
Over 11-13 May, another Debian BSP will be held in the UK, at York.
| 53 |
For this BSP, however, there is an upper limit of ten to twelve attendees,
| 54 |
for logistical reasons. For more information visit the
| 55 |
<a href="http://wiki.debian.org/BSP/2012/05/en/York">wiki page</a>.
| 56 |
</p>
| 57 |
| 58 |
<p>If you want to organize a BSP, you can find all the necessary
| 59 |
information on <a href="http://wiki.debian.org/HostingBSP">this wiki

| 62 |
events and make <q>Wheezy</q> ready for release sooner!</p>

<h2>About Debian</h2>
| 65 |
| 66 |
<p>
| 67 |
The Debian Project was founded in 1993 by Ian Murdock to be a truly
| 68 |
free community project. Since then the project has grown to be one of
| 69 |
the largest and most influential open source projects. Thousands of
| 70 |
volunteers from all over the world work together to create and
| 71 |
maintain Debian software. Available in 70 languages, and
| 72 |
supporting a huge range of computer types, Debian calls itself the
| 73 |
<q>universal operating system</q>.
