apply to desktop icons as well. I can't make it misbehave as did Konqueror,
but again, PLEASE TEST to ensure there are no lurking issues, in case I

Branch update.

Also a standalone patch from Improving KDE that eliminates an annoying
border around the kicker systray on mouseover.

Also, 28_kdebase_rubberband, is the acompaniment to the Qt/kdelibs
"Impriving KDE" patches. This makes the transparent rubberband selector
rectangle configurable (off by default). Obviously this patch should
only be included in an upload if the Improving KDE patches for Qt and
kdelibs have already been included in uploads, otherwise it will look
odd. So the kdebase uploader may have to remember to manually delete
the patch before building kdebase for upload.

Fix the "exact versioning of depends on arch-indep packages breaks binNMUs"
problem for kdebase-data. I know this solution is crude, but it can do for
now. Feel free to implement something better!

New patch for kdebase.

Until a recent post-3.4.2 branch commit, kdm
could load user face icons (in $HOME) even if
the home directory was not world-readable, since
kdm runs as root.

This branch commit, however, increased the amount
of code run as 'nobody' to include all of the
face-loading code, therefore losing this ability.
Oswald Buddenhagen doesn't care (I asked).

This patch partially reverts that commit, allowing
user face icons to be loaded even when $HOME isn't
world-readable. kdm once again behaves the same way
as gdm.

Allowing users to set their own faces is disabled
by default anyway, so the security implications
are exceedingly minimal (and this was never a problem
in the past).

glibc 2.3.5 built on all architectures, so this patch is obsolete.

In other news, I noticed that X.Org built on sparc. Now we just
need it uploaded on sparc and arm, and qt3 is ready to go...

Add bugs fixed in KDE 3.4 to the changelog.

Add the arabic translation.

Re-add some kdm session files that had incorrect Exec= lines,
but do have packages available in Debian.

Change kdm's debconf dependency to debconf | debconf-2.0,
as Joey Hess requested everyone do on -devel. Note that I
HAVE NOT tested kdm with cdebconf.

X.Org transition for kdebase. Here, the 07_xlibs-static-pic.diff stays,
albeir cut down, as well as the build-dep on xlibs-static-pic, since
libfontenc_pic.a is still shipped in xlibs-static-pic, and isn't mentioned
in the list of split out headers/libs that David sent to -devel. I think
this is right...

Move the default background image to a new file and name:
debian-kde_default.png. This way, we can change the image without
having to rename any files or edit conffiles, making everything
much less hassle.

Modify kdm config patches. Set defaults, rather than the only kdmrc's
initial values. Sometimes it's nice to do both, for consistency, or because
(as with font antialiasing) kcontrol's kdm module behaves strangely, and will
initally present users with the commented-out value from kdmrc rather than the
current (default) setting.

Update kdm maintainer scripts. Get rid of generic $THIS_PACKAGE stuff, which
causes problems with lint tools and isn't needed. Make the scripts more robust -
fall back to traditional daemon start/stop methods if needed.

Update font defaults. This doesn't affect what new users
get with kpersonalizer, but it does affect what happens
if they revert to defaults in kcontrol. Antialiasing is now
on, without an exclusion range.

OK, here goes! The new default background image for KDM and kpersonalizer,
same as GNOME uses. We could depend on desktop-base, but I'd already for
unrelated reasons whipped up the uuencoding stuff, so why not...

More packages now depend on kdebase-data, ensuring that they can access
the image (which is stored there). The copyright file has been updated.

TODO: Currently if you go into Kcontrol, and click "Defaults", neither KDM
nor Kcontrol reverts to this Debian image, but to a blue color background.
This isn't a regression - the same happened with the older KDE defaults,
but it is inconsistent. Patching might be a pain.

Update default-fonts patch. The lack of Helvetica was causing a check to fail that
really shouldn't have. Also, don't let KDE pick fonts under any circumstance - it
should always use the defaults we give it.

This should fix some strange problems where anti-aliasing wasn't being enabled on
start.

kdm STILL doesn't completely ignore the installed system when creating
kdmrc. It looks at inittab, meaning whoever builds it will affect the
defaults. Dumb dumb dumb.

This rips out that code, so it always picks "normal" settings (TTYs, etc.).

Use capital letters, or else, oddly enough, the font names show up
in lowercase in kcontrol (but only in some places...).

Commit logitech mouse special support - patching the KDE provided files to
avoid the need for pam_console, and re-naming the script to something less
generic. User reports that this works.

Updated debian/rules to accomodate new kde.mk.

Note that by default, all libs will be given an shlibs value equal to the
upstream version, assuming that PACKAGES_WITH_LIBS is correct and complete.

If you need finer control, i.e. branch pulls add new symbols, then uncomment
the lines:

#shlibs_ver = 4:3.4.0-1
#$(foreach p,$(PACKAGES_WITH_LIBS),$(eval DEB_DH_MAKESHLIBS_ARGS_$(p) := -V'$(p) (>= $(shlibs_ver))'))

and specify the new shlibs manually.

remove DEBHELPER auto-generated sections
from kdm's postinst/prerm.
With CDBS, these are now populated, causing
kdm to kill X if upgraded while X running,
and other nasty problems (which should now
be fixed). Please report any bad behaviour
on kdm's part...
