The crashes under MacOS X were not because of a bug in libusb but because of a bug in pcscd MacOS X hotplug.
add SPR 532 in "Supported CCID readers" list
move LTC31 reader from unsupported to supported reader list. It was my fault since in used odd INS byte in my test applet and odd INS bytes are forbidden by ISO 7816-4 ch. 5.4.2 Instruction byte. Thanks to Josep Mon�s Teixidor for pointing the problem.
