Correct error in debcheckout example, thanks to Laurent Parenteau. Message-ID: <CAKrqPw9XRq16UHGr3mXJaW+-37BP6dyoU9dVE22dGvb9WZeNJw@mail.gmail.com>
Commit a some "Newcomer guidelines for building proper Debian packages" paragraph which somehow resided uncommited on my harddisk for a longer time
Also refer to the New Maintainer's Guide.
<literrallayout> is not allowed in <title>; using <sect3> instead of <formalpara>. This roughly conserves the apparence of the HTML output, but is conformant to DocBook syntax.
Changed "Git tips" secion layout to make it easier for a newbie.
Using formalpara for better separation and hover messages in the browsers.
Differentiate creation of local repositories and empty bare repositories on Alioth.
Addedd missing ‘address’ word, and reworded a bit.
git-import-orig does not support zip archives.
Added two missing spaces.
Alioth's wsvn interface was discontinued.
Typo: Need a whitespace after --git-track
Make the tip more specific to pdebuild.
Document getting the packages with debcheckout instead of git or svn directly.
Mention the dpatch to quilt converter.
Packages calling dpkg-buildpackage do not need -rfakeroot anymore.
Soften wording about mergeWithUpstream to avoid implying it is used everywhere.
Make command to set the R:Depends substitution variable.
Recommend debian/README.test for describing how to test the package.
publish target for rsyncing policy to wagner; s/now_managed_via_git/README.status/
Instructions about the VCS URL when migrating a package to Git.
dpatch to be removed in 2017.
Declare same stylesheet as the one used in the Makefile.
Corrected anonymous Subversion and Git URLs.
Deprecate dpatch further, and markup changes to make the section more compact.
Link updates, indentation and markup changes, and correction of capitalisation. All cosmetic.
Recommendation about version numbers in Debian Med's PPA.
More corrections after the split of Alioth.
do not use alioth if you want to commit
Mention backports and PPA.
Remove programlisting tag to display inline, it is even simpler.
Use programlisting for the example. The previous syntax triggered an error in jEdit.
How to check copyright file for correct syntax
Emphasis on group write access and ACLs for git.debian.org repositories.
Link to more explanations about tasks.
URL to source; Mention my contribution for this year.
Added missing '/'
Hint to Wiki article about using ssh on Alioth
More compact layout.
Mention debcheckout -a.
More compact layout. I do not know for others, but my laptop does only 1024×768.
Separated VCS and new packages issues.
Mention svn propset in the tips.
Transferred from the DebianMed wiki page. http://wiki.debian.org/DebianMed?action=diff&rev2=87&rev1=86
Transferred the part about tasks in a dedicated section.
Moved more tips to the top.
Transferred informations about SVN tags from the policy to the tips.
Moved SVN build tips from Policy to new SVN tips section.
Refreshed section about patches.
Grammar correction, sorry for the noise.
Tip sent by David Bremner on email@example.com. Message-ID: <firstname.lastname@example.org>
Briefly describe possible Git layouts.
In the absence of a better idea, suggest to look for a debian branch when the Git clone is strange. Message-ID: <20110317145034.GB16638@meiner>
Moved most Git instructions from the policy to the tips.
Warning about too restrictive umask.
Branches to track are separated by spaces.
Example commands to track new branches
First tips: debcheckout sets up branches and options for you.
Mention team uploads.
Added missing para tag.
Use dh in favour of cdbs
Recommend short dh rules files
Recommend Debhelper compatibility level 8 because it is in current stable and backported to oldstable. This makes sense for new packages which need to be backported anyway if targting at oldstable.
To show that git-buildpackage is used, add debian/gbp.conf. I will move genereal SVN and Git help to the beginning of the document, so I created a new section, but will eventually transfer/delete the one below.
Added IDs to ease navigation in jEdit.
Removed now invalid patch option (see http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2011/02/msg00361.html)
Mention git-import-orig. This is way easier to use this than to update the upstream and pristine-tar branches by hand.
Mention git-import-dscs --debsnap This may be especially useful now that we are deleting SVN tag.
Increased debhelper version from 5 to 7 which is avaialable in the currently relevant releases.
Fixed ddtp location and typo
Syntactic corrections. The sections probably would benefit from a rearrangement, but it is outsice the scope of this commit.
Avoid information redundancy between debian/watch and debian/copyright.
Added Git policy
Better spacing / wording
Document briefly our Git repository.
Corrected a DocBook error (no content change).
Replaced ITP tagging by updating the Blends task files.
s/Debian-Med/Debian Med/, s/CDD/Blend/, s/Custom Debian Distribution/Debian Pure Blend/, update links
How to automagically use the correct username when connecting to Alioth by SSH. Thanks to Adeodato Simó for the hint (<20081226175836.GA22351@chistera.yi.org>).
Corrected abusive use of README.source
Suggesting to set our List as the owner of ITPs.
Note that our Subversion repository is writeable for all DDs.
Added essential readings.
Policy changes according to the discussion archived in: http://lists.debian.org/debian-med/2008/04/msg00035.html
Added <alt></alt>. Should now be XHTML1.0 Transitional compliant.
Fixing bad formatting (see resulting html)
IT WORKS! (Sorry Andreas for the -foo ;)
Making a trivial edit -- let's see if it auto-generates the HTML page :)
Adding DocBook version :)
