Disable broken PDF building [ Damyan Ivanov ]
Build fails on Squeeze: needs more investigation, the sane way being to

Add xmlroff.xsl file and adjust Makefile as suggested by Osamu Aoki in order to

Make PO_LANGUAGES be based on both the enabled and the disabled languages. This way
the 'update-po' and the 'statistics' target work as expected even for those languages
we are not enabling for the build.

The publication of some manuals fails for some languages. Remove 'set -e' from the target so that this does not prevent other languages/arches from being copied over. This way we do not prevent the publication of languages that are fully ok

Do not make the statistics.txt target PHONY but, instead
base it on the existing files used to calculate the statistics.
This is a 'green' change as this way we prevent this task from being run every
time, even when the underlying files have not been changed.

Fix TeX include path issues
Let's no longer copy ifxetex.sty into lang/ as the dblatex LaTeX build happens
in a temporary directory and the root directory of the Release Notes is already
in the TeX search path whereas lang/ isn't.
Also do not longer consider "es" special but add the language specific directory
to the default search path for all languages and also for the .ps target.

Improve statistics by not counting PO file conflicts
A strings (such as the PO header) which is translated inconsistent across
multiple files would result in a PO conflict message which is fuzzy. This
leads e.g. to one bogus fuzzy message for Vietnamese.
Now only the first translation is used in case multiple are available.
This problem would not exist with a single PO file only but as we use
multiple ...

Enabled build of Spanish PDF file
The problem seems to be the hyperref LaTeX package in Etch which leads to the
following error with pdflatex:

Make po4a's --previous option the default
Since it is only used by the updatepo rule which isn't called automatically
anymore on the build host we are on the save side to activate it. Yep, this
requires Lenny but it shouldn't harm.

Do no longer automatically update PO files if English files were changed
This is e.g. useful if the initial svn checkout is slow and the PO file is
older than .dbk files. The build should not update the PO files in the working
copy as this change could cause a conflict on the build host after the next svn
update. Also updating PO files with automatic tools does not affect the built
document as the translation statistics are not changed by this (only source
references will be updated, ...).
Only the target updatepo is now responsible to update PO files, independent of
timestamps. This closes: #509759.
Improved also the documentation a little bit.

Reduce noise when checking for a more recent PO file if PO files are not used
The code uses now make instead of shell magic and reduces the output a little
bit.
Also the language targets ("de", "fr", ...) where removed from .PHONY which I
forgot in r5686.

Avoid a useless rebuild of HTML files
The generated index file (which is used as stamp file for the html target)
is index.$(LINGUA).html not index.html.

Removed obscure and bogus rule addressing targets such as "de" or "fr"
This rule is not required and used the probably undefined variable $a.

Touch updated PO files to avoid calling po4a-updatepo every time
This speeds the build process up as demonstrated by:
touch en/moreinfo.dbk
make -j1 architecture=i386 LINGUA=de de/release-notes.i386.xml
make -j1 architecture=i386 LINGUA=de de/release-notes.i386.xml
The second make call does no longer start po4a again as it happend up to now.

Implement tarball generation even if we use PUBLISHDIR (we will use

Rolled back the changes that allowed latex derived formats for ja and zh_TW
since this adds a dependency on modified versions from the quick-reference
manual. This hack is not sustainable nor scalable.
This form allows you to request diffs between any two revisions of this file.
For each of the two "sides" of the diff,
enter a numeric revision.
