Fix the startup crash

After I know where the bug happens exactly it was pretty easy to fix the
bug. Also with the fact that Michael Schwendt <mschwendt@gmail.com> had
a fix for it on the mailing list dated Tue, 17 Jun 2014 13:24:11 +0200.
